TRAIN DRIVING SIMULATOR

SICTR (Simulatore Integrato per la Circolazione dei Treni) is a constantly updated simulation software for train driving testing and staff training.

The software simulates in a realistic manner the guidance system of a train, regarding both the internal controls, which faithfully recreate the existing ones, and the physics of the vehicle.
The simulator is also responsible for managing the signalling system, the ground and onboard equipments.

The user is presented with a graphical environment which is constantly updated and contributes to an immersive experience.
SICTR was conceived as a system for training driving staff and provides a wide range of options to customize the simulations. For example, it's possible to interact with the graphics engine, recreating different driving conditions, such as night or dense fog.
A bundled reporting system allows evaluation of the trainee behaviour, including a system that checks for mistakes during the simulation. If a webcam is connected, the attention level is monitored by using face detection and eye tracking technologies.
A client-server architecture, allows high levels of scalability:
- railway network infrastructure is managed by the server;
- a client manages the line signalling system, which implements a graphical interface looking as the ones typically provided to traffic controllers;
- one or more clients simulate train behaviour and driving staff interface. Each client simulates a single train.
